Welcome
on El Hierro ...
.... in pictures and text we give a brief insight into what El Hierro has to offer its visitors.
El Hierro is a marine reserve. In the crystal clear water, small and large sea creatures cavort. Whales, dolphins, manta rays or even turtles are approached ecologically, for example, on a sailing trip in small groups.
The history of El Hierro begins with the colonization of the island in the times of the Phoenicians. Impressive contemporary witnesses of the indigenous people of the Bimbach are their characters in the lava fields of El Julan and La Lajial.
After the conquest by the Spaniards, the Catholic faith found its way to the island and since 1745 one of the largest processions in the Canary Islands has been held every four years in honor of the island's saint, the Virgen de los Reyes.
Above all, you can enjoy the untouched nature on a hike, e.g. in the primeval, legendary cloud forest, through dense pine forests, or past lava fields and volcanic cones to one of the countless viewpoints on the island .....
