The e-bike week at the Hotel Parador
1 day:
Arrival via Tenerife or Gran Canaria and further by flight or ferry to Valverde / Hierro and pre-booked taxi transfer to the 3 * hotel "PARADOR NACIONAL"
located in the quiet bay of Las Playas. The colonial-style hotel has 45 rooms, mostly with a sea view, a reception with WIFI area, salon, cafeteria, breakfast room and restaurant with Canarian cuisine for the 3-course dinner that is served at the table.
If you don't arrive too late Welcome meeting and handover of bicycles
with the tour guide, otherwise the next morning after breakfast.
2 day: First guided bike tour with Heidrun or Jörg, the German guide,, to get a good impression of the remote island and its bathing spots. From the hotel it goes first along the coastal road to the quaint bathing bays La Caleta and Tamaduste
near the island's airport, one of the smallest airports in Europe. There are Rock pools
and seawater swimming pools have been integrated into the lava landscape. We picnic and bathe depending on the weather and enjoy the tranquility of this island jewel. We'll do one on the way back Coffee break at the port
and marvel again at the clear Atlantic water. The little-traveled coastal road passes the scattered houses of Barranqueras again and leads to the Parador tunnel with the only traffic light on the island.
3rd day: Second tour on the quietest Canary Island. Starting in Valverde, we go through the old farming village of Tiñor to San Andrés for the first rest. The landscape changes noticeably, because now the green high pastures of the island begin, which are reminiscent of Ireland or Scotland. Now south towards El Pinar and the fragrant pine forest. Spectacular look back at the hotel and continue to the picnic in the forest. Then through the “Magic Forest” Fayal-Brezal to the Cruz de los Reyes, located at approx. 1300 m. From here it goes downhill to the Mirador de la Peña, a fantastic restaurant designed by the very famous architect César Manrique. After a coffee break, you cycle back to Valverde via Mocanal. Transfer to the hotel.
4th day:Free day to relax on
Hotel pool
or biking on your own. On request, a hike or
boat trip
get organized. Furthermore is a
Cave excursion
or a trial dive/snorkling possible in La Restinga.
5th day:
The guide comes back to the hotel and the next bike experience is on. A fairly newly tarred mountain road leads steeply up through a landscape reminiscent of the South American Andes to Isora cheese village, strongly rooted in ancient traditions and formerly of great agricultural importance for the island. We are happy about the powerful electric motor, which makes the journey uphill pleasant. Visit of the viewpoint of Isora and Stop at a farmer's bar.
Comfortable continuation of the tour via Las Rosas, San Andrés and Valverde back towards the coast. Valverde is the only Canarian capital that is not on the water, but often in the trade wind. In Timijiraque, a bay with black lava sand, is ideal for a refreshing swim in the Atlantic and / or a beer break.
6th day:
With the group taxi it goes passing Valverde to El Pinar, the village by the pine forest. Here the bikes are taken over and a beautiful, little-traveled, Panorama high road
in the southwest of the island leads to the island sanctuary, the miraculous Madonna Virgen de los Reyes. The mountain road winds spectacularly through the uninhabited western tip of El Hierro into the golf valley and the Frontera municipality
down, where the tropical fruits, mainly the African pineapple, of the island are grown. The valley is the remainder of a huge volcanic crater, half of which sank into the sea around 380,000 years ago. Passing the only spa hotel in the Canaries, it goes to the well-known La Maceta bathing area
and for the final rest. From here transfer back to the hotel.
7th day:
The conclusion is an exciting bike tour in the south
the island. Young volcanic slag fields are reminiscent of one Lunar landscape.
The start is at 1000 meters above sea level, in the well-known orange village of Isora. From here a well-developed road leads to the fishing port and the best diving area in Europe, La Restinga. Halfway there, it is advisable to stop at the volcanological visitor center, to find out everything there is to know about the undersea 2011 volcanic eruption
reported. In Restinga we will be with one to eat fish
rewarded before going up a bit to the bay of Tacorón
to get there, perhaps the most beautiful swimming area on the island. Return by bikes to El Pinar and from there transfer to the hotel.
Day 8:
Unfortunately today we have to say goodbye to El Hierro, Heidrun and Jörg and its friendly residents, if no individual extension was requested. Transfer to the port or airport and onward journey to Tenerife or Gran Canaria.
